Happy 4th of July!

Life is coasting along at an alarming speed around here. We closed the deal on our old house, closed the deal on our new house, and are now left with our lives packed into various boxes and bags. I fully intend on getting the stuff out of the boxes, but I'm still trying to put together my "master plan" for this house, and how I want it to look, feel, etc.

In other news, Rebekah turned 5 months old yesterday, and to celebrate, I gave her a taste of her first solid food. She was confused and made some great faces, so at least it was entertaining for the adults. Note to self: 2 year olds will still eat baby food - do not leave open baby food within their reach.

Zach got a summer haircut yesterday, and while it is very different, I really like it. I won't have to brush his hair after each nap and in the morning anymore - we just got rid of the hair!

We are going to see a Mudcats baseball game this evening and enjoy a fireworks show afterwards. I'm terrified interested to see just how long baseball will hold Zach's attention... But I'm sure the fireworks will make up for the boring game! :)

On a more serious note, today we celebrate the privelege we all have of living in this great nation. We celebrate our independence from tyranny, our freedom to make our own choices, and our rights to pursue the life we desire. What an amazing idea America is. It's my prayer today that our country will not continue down the slippery slope of socialism, and that we will remember the lessons of the past and choose to learn from those instead of repeating the same mistakes. I will end with an excellent quote that speaks to the importance of surrounding ourselves with freedom-loving people:

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." ~Samuel Adams
